Wasps are most active during the fall and summer months. They start building a nest after successfully having invaded an area. They commonly prey on smaller insects. Apart from preying on insects, owners of pets also should be wary of wasps because they have the tendency to sting anything that gets in their way. Families with smaller children are also at risk for getting to close to the nest.
Nests are often built with the closest food-source in mind and are often built in a shaded and dry area such as under a soffit or in a wall. This can in turn cause structural damage as the nest keeps expanding in time. Nests are built with safety and security in mind so that wasps do not fall prey to possible predators.
It is advisable as soon as you suspect wasp activity taking place to report the nest to your local reputable wasp removal service in order to assess the situation and to prepare for removal. Wasp removal can be a very dangerous and risky process, so it is highly recommended that nest removal is done by professionals that have specialized knowledge in the handling and removal of wasp nests. Stings from a wasp can be incredibly uncomfortable and painful that leaves the skin irritated and swollen. Apart from that, effects can include dizziness, nausea, swelling, and a constant itch. If you have indeed been stung and experience the above symptoms, immediately see a doctor.

The bald-faced hornets can be generally recognized by their black body and their white face. Bald-faced hornets are usually larger in size than yellow jackets where workers can range from 15 to 20mm. Their activity usually takes place during the day and their paper nest usually hangs off three branches, overhangs, and soffits. The colony usually starts out in spring when a queen places an egg in each cell as she begins to build her nest. The size of a bald-faced nest can reach the size of a soccer ball in just a span of a few months. During winter, males and workers usually die off while the fertilized females survive the winter and go into hibernation
There are many kinds of paper wasps. Generally paper wasps are very thin and have yellow discoloration with an all-black body. Their nests are constructed by a combination of organic materials and salvia that has the resemblance of paper. Hence the name paper wasp.
Are very different from all the previous wasps. Instead of making their nests out a material that resembles a paper-like material, mud daubers actually build their nests out of the mud. Mud daubers are solitary wasps that become active in the springtime. When the nest is finished, the mud daubers go around a hunt for spiders and insects to feed their larvae with which they put in every nest hole.
These bees resemble bumblebees. What makes them unique is that they make their nest from digging tubular holes in untreated wood and not covered in bark. Their partner feeds on pollen and nectar and returns to their gallery to overwinter for it to emerge next spring. Male carpenter bees are only able to sting whereas females are the ones who can sting.
Wasps are only able to build and use their nest for one season after which all the wasps will perish. New queens will continue in building their own colony in a completely newly-built nest in the warmer summer months. Until then these wasps will then hibernate. It is interesting to note that wasp nests never get reused and that wasp nests never get built close to another wasp colony.
